FAQ


-What is Best Matched Zine?
Best Matched Zine is a collection of art and writing featuring LGBT ships from Kamen Rider, created and produced by fans of the show. It will be A5-sized. Additionally, it is non-profit; all proceeds will go to our charity, Nijiiro Diversity.

-Who can apply?
Everyone! Just be prepared to showcase your strongest work!

-How can I apply?
We will share a link to a Google Form (just like our interest check). Keep an eye on our social media this month!

-How many artists will be selected?
How many artists we select vary on the interest and the number of individuals in the applicant pool! Less writers will be chosen than artists, because fanfic takes up a lot of space. Our carrd and and social media will be updated as soon we know.

-How will the Mods decide who participates?
We will choose our contributors neutrally based on demonstrated skill. We also want to cover as many shows as possible so your selected ships may affect that. We will notify those selected via email.

-What ships will I be allowed to create for?
Any ship from Kamen Rider, as long as it’s LGBT. All shows are eligible, from Showa to Reiwa. OT3s are okay, and offering F/F is super encouraged! You just can’t create anything that’s against the law, or anything NSFW, we also won’t be taking crossover ships this time around.

-Can we post our zine submissions online?
Yes, we’ll let our contributors know when they’re free to post their pieces.

-How much will it cost?
We need all our pieces in to calculate costs! Our carrd and and social media will be updated as soon we know.

-Do my application pieces have to be Kamen Rider art/fic?
No! Just make sure it’s your strongest work!

-Can I apply to create both art and fic?
Yes. However, you may only be selected for one.

-Will I have to create a new piece?
Yes.

-How long will my fic need to be?
Fan fiction submissions will range from 1000-1500 in word length.

-Can I apply with traditional art?
As long as it’s nicely scanned and in color, yes!

-I don’t like one of the ships in the zine
There are twenty two seasons of Kamen Rider featured, and over thirty ships in the zine. While we want everyone to enjoy the zine as much as possible, accommodating everyone’s personal preference would be unrealistic. The scope of the zine is broad, if there’s something you don’t like, there’s plenty you will. This project is meant to create visibility and content of LGBT media that isn't featured in the source material, as well as contributing to a good cause.

All proceeds from the zine will benefit Nijiiro Diversity. Nijiiro Diversity is a Japanese non-profit organization that offers support for LGBT employees. It is dedicated to ending workplace discrimination, and offers training to corporations to create an LGBT-friendly work environment.
